Wedding Planning -  Think Outside-the-Box

The post pandemic wedding boom is underway, forcing us all to be creative as we plan for that special day.

As we emerge from Covid, the wedding backlog is off the charts. 2.5 million couples are expected to tie the knot this year - a huge increase from years past.  As a result, we’ve all had to get more creative and think “outside-the-box” as we plan out our special day.  This includes being flexible in terms of venue, day of the week, number of invitees, meal options, size of the guest list, and so on.  Even wedding dresses are being delayed by our global supply chain challenges.

While it may not be possible to have your wedding exactly as envisioned…on a Saturday in June at a specific church or venue…remember that the most important thing is that you are celebrating with your close friends and family your mutual commitment with your spouse to be, and the beginning of your life together.

We’ve seen all kinds of cool “outside-the-box” wedding plans.  Here are just a few of the options:

  • A destination wedding at a fun resort with a smaller group of invitees and lots of fun group activities, followed by a big celebration party back home at a later date.
  • Weddings at non-traditional venues - stunning outdoor locations, museums, wineries or breweries, decorated warehouses, yachts, and so on
  • Monday weddings at the venue and church you really wanted in the first place (often at a lower cost)
  • All weekend long weddings with fun activities throughout
  • Outdoor adventure weddings

As you can see, there's no end to the creative options.  Your guests will enjoy the opportunity to celebrate your special day, especially after the challenging last few years.

Once you get your wedding plan and attendee list organized, be sure to consider CalUp Planner - a great new tool for engaging with your wedding party and your guests.  You can easily create a dynamic, detailed agenda on CalUp Planner and publish it to your guests.

Each guest receives a personalized agenda based on the specific events or activities in which they are expected to participate.  For example, only the bridal party might see a “Hair and Makeup” event on their itinerary, whereas everyone would see the “Ceremony”. You can even use CalUp to coordinate with your vendor support crew by creating an event for them to chat, share information and keep in sync.  CalUp is also great for getting guests excited and participating in the lead up to the wedding, and in capturing memories from candid photos during the festivities.

As weddings become less traditional, it is even more important to provide your guests with a tool that keeps them on track, engaged, and having fun.  To that end, CalUp offers several fun social features such as group chat, 1:1 messaging, and photo sharing to help foster the fun….all for less than the cost of a 10 pack of disposable cameras.
